Sailors who have sailed around the world single handed are a breed all their own. They are acclaimed by their nations, admired by the public and respected by their fellow sailors. The Joshua Slocum Society has prepared this web site with the intention of updating the list of previous solo circumnavigators and tracking new attempts. Note: A 'singlehanded' voyage can be made with stops but it is not permitted to have additional crew or assistance while advancing the boat's position as it transits toward the next destination
